Learning the cello as an adult has its challenges, but James makes lessons very enjoyable and I always look forward to them. He places an emphasis on learning and working on one's techniques, whilst always encouraging me to play expressively and find my own sound. Beyond classical music, he has guided me in learning contemporary pieces and in how to improvise and play in a group setting. Teacher James is a terrifically patient and skilled cello teacher who demonstrated a genuine interest in helping me improve.
